E-LEARNING

Distance Learning will continue through the rest of the school year. We will be following a "Monday, Wednesday, Friday" School week schedule. Please keep an eye on your email, and this webpage for weekly assignments to be posted the Sunday before the school week begins. 

Monday April 6th
-In the packet provided, complete FRONT and BACK of the worksheet labeled April 6th
- Complete 30 minutes on DreamBox (this helps me with attendance so it is VERY important)
-30 minutes on Study Island (15 math 15 language)
-FlipGrid Video on Types of Communities (this is a social studies grade)
-Read for 30 minutes and complete weekly Reading Summary on Showbie
Wednesday April 8th
-In the packet provided complete FRONT and BACK of the worksheet labeled April 8th
-Complete 30 minutes of DreamBox (This helps with attendance, so it is very important!)
-Study Island 30 minutes (15 math, 15 language)
-FlipGrid Video on Graphing (For a grade)
-Read 30 minutes and continue to work on your weekly reading summary on Showbie
Friday April 10th 
-In the packet provided, complete FRONT and BACK of the worksheet labeled April 10th
-30 minutes on Dreambox
-30 Minutes on Study Island (You can do game mode, too!)
-Read 30 minutes and finish your Showbie Summary; Due today!
-FlipGrid Video Telling about the book you read this week

There are also links posted under the "useful links" tab that are ideas of extra practice students can complete. IXL, Flash to Pass, Dreamscapes, and Prodigy are all websites/apps that students can use!

Monday, April 13th 

Reading- The Power of Magnets, Lesson 27. The story is entitled, “The Power of Magnets.”    Please read this story today. When you are finished, write on sheet provided on Showbie a 5 sentence summary of the story. It can be more than 5 sentences. :) 

Spelling- Choose 10 words from the list on Showbie and write them 3 times each. Further directions are on Showbie with the assignment. 

Language- IXL LANGUAGE ARTS Letters: P.1, R.1, CC.1 (Even if these have been completed before, they need to be done again for review.) Please achieve an 80% or higher for each. If you have trouble with IXL please let me know, but these will be taken for a grade. 

Math- 30 minutes on DreamBox, 15 minutes on StudyIsland math. DREAMBOX MINUTES ARE TAKEN FOR A GRADE. Students need to have at least 90 minutes for the entire week to receive full credit. I have assigned lessons to each of the students on Dreambox based on their personal math needs. I will continue to assign math lessons. Please understand that lessons I have already assigned must be completed before I can assign new ones. 

FlipGrid- Brainpop Video and Response on Magnets. You will receive a grade for this assignment. If you can’t access FlipGrid for some reason, please email me your response. These will be taken for a grade.

Wednesday, April 15

Reading- Read for 30 Minutes 

Reading- Read the Journey’s story again, “The Power of Magnets.”  You can read it out loud to a pet, sibling, parent, or grandparent, or read it silently to yourself. Activity:  Answer comprehension questions on Showbie and turn them in for a grade. Further directions on Showbie. 

Spelling- Choose 15 spelling words. Write them in ABC order on Showbie. Further directions on Showbie. 

Language- StudyIsland Language for 30 minutes

Math- 10 minute fact practice on Flash2Pass. Please upload a screenshot of one of your Flash2Pass attempts to Showbie. 30 minutes DreamBox. DREAMBOX MINUTES ARE TAKEN FOR A GRADE.

Math- In your Envision Workbook, tear out pages 361-363 and do all sides. Steps for how to turn these pages into Showbie once completed are posted online in the Showbie Assignment.

FlipGrid- After reading for 30 minutes, answer the day’s topic by telling us about the book you are reading this week. You will receive a grade for this assignment. If you can’t access FlipGrid for some reason, email me your response.

Friday, April 17

Reading- Take the Journey’s test on ThinkCentral. Please let me know if you have any problems with this. This test is graded and needs to be completed on Friday. 

Spelling- On Showbie, there will be a lined paper for spelling. Choose 10 words to write in sentences. Further directions on Showbie. 

Math- 30 minutes DreamBox, 20 on StudyIsland. DREAMBOX MINUTES ARE TAKEN FOR A GRADE.

Language- FlipGrid assignment about Parts of Speech (nouns and verbs) -You WILL receive a grade for this assignment.  If you can’t access FlipGrid for some reason, email me your response. 

  ***No more packets from this point. The weekly plan is broken down into days and will be emailed to parents and posted to the teacher’s webpage before Monday morning.  Students will be using their Journeys books that were sent home as well as their Envision math workbooks.  You will receive a weekly grade on the amount of DreamBox minutes you complete. Spelling words to practice for the week will be posted to the teacher’s webpage. 

Week of April 20th - 24th Monday, April 20

Reading: We are now on Lesson 28 in your Journey’s books. Please read the story, “Becoming Anything He Wants to Be” to yourself. Write me a 5 sentence summary on what you have read on the paper provided in Showbie. (Weekly Reading Summary)

Spelling: Put all 20 words in ABC order on the paper provided in Showbie.

Math: 30 minutes on Dreambox

Math: In your Envision Math workbook, tear out page 379-381 and do all sides. You can find a video with help on graphs on Showbie. Steps for how to turn these pages into Showbie once completed are posted online in the Showbie Assignment.

Wednesday, April 22 

Reading: Read the story, “Becoming Anything He Wants to Be” out loud. You can read to a pet, a sibling, a parent, even call your grandparent and read to them out loud over the phone! When you are finished, answer the questions about the story on Showbie.

Spelling: IXL Letters GG.1, GG.2 (Do them again for review)

Math: Spend 10 minutes practicing facts on Flash2Pass. This does not need to be uploaded to Showbie this week. 

Math: Dreambox 30 minutes 

Language: Do IXL Letters JJ.1, KK.1, MM.1, HH.1, II.4, II.5 These can be worked on throughout the week but will be taken for a grade on Friday. I recommend 2 exercises a day. You must reach at least an 80% for full credit. (Even if you have done them before, do them again for review) *I have posted this everyday for the week. 

Science: Earth Day short reading and writing assignment on Showbie. 

FlipGrid: Please answer today’s topic. If you can’t access FlipGrid for some reason, email me your response.


Friday, April 24th

Reading: Listen to the story “Becoming Anything He Wants to Be” on Showbie in the Reading folder. Then, take the Journeys test on ThinkCentral. Please let me know if you have any problems with this. This test is graded and needs to be completed on Friday. Students may use their books, but please CHALLENGE THEM TO DO THE TEST WITHOUT PARENT HELP. The test closes 48 hours after it opens so it will close on Saturday night. 

Reading: Read for 20 minutes a book of your choice. (You will need this for your FlipGrid today) 

Spelling: Pick 10 of this week's spelling words and write sentences for those words on the Showbie assignment paper. 

Math: Dreambox 30 minutes

Math: Do workbook pages in your Envision wkbk. pgs 183-185. Strategies for division are on Showbie. I have worked through numbers 1-8 as examples for you! **This will not be due until next Friday** Try doing a few a day!

Additional information for this week. 

- SPECIALS. This is a reminder that students do receive grades for their specials classes (Gym, Music, Art, and Library. The specials teachers have each set up their own information. I will send an email tomorrow (Monday) with what is being expected of each student for these classes. 

- Zoom Calls. I know a lot of teachers have set up Zoom classroom times. I have decided that I will test it out as well! I will be available for a zoom classroom on Wednesday’s from 2-3. This is optional and students can come to talk, get help, or play games that I will have prepped if there are no questions. The Zoom call code and instructions for Zoom will be listed on Showbie and on Mrs. Bell’s teacher website. 

- Read aloud. I have recorded myself reading aloud a chapter book. I will upload a few chapters at a time and students are more than welcome to follow along on Showbie. The book I will be reading is called “The One and Only Ivan”. There will not be any assignments that go along with this, however I love reading and thought it would be nice to read a book to them this way. :)


Week of May 4th thru May 8th 


MONDAY: 

Reading: We are on our last story of the year! Please read lesson 30, “Saving Buster” in your Reading Magazines. After you have read the story go to Showbie and type a 5 sentence summary detailing what the story was about.

Spelling: Put all 20 words in ABC order on the paper provided in Showbie.

Math: Envision Pages 315-317

Math: DreamBox 30 Minutes 

Language: Complete the Language worksheet over Capitalization on Showbie 

FlipGrid: Science. Please answer today’s topic. If you can’t access FlipGrid for some reason, email me your response.


WEDNESDAY- 

Reading: Read the story “Saving Buster” out loud. You can read to a pet, a sibling,

a parent, even call your grandparent and read to them out loud over the phone! When you are

finished, answer the questions about the story on Showbie.

Spelling: Fill out the Spelling Crossword on Showbie! 

Math: Spend 10 minutes practicing facts on Flash2Pass, If you have not done so, Make sure Envision pages 168-185 are turned in from Friday! 

Math: Spend 30 Minutes on Dreambox math

Language: Complete IXL TT.2, TT.3, and TT.4 (Even if they have been completed, do them again for additional practice.)
